Who Is Rick?

Humble Beginnings

Born Richard H. Chester III, 'Little Ricky' was son to a pioneering farming family in rural Nebraska. Realising that he had a passion for the music hall, and not the manure hoe, Rick entered the world of greasepaint and dancing girls selling tickets to townsfolk at the Greta Medallion Theatre.

It was whilst working at the 'Greta' that Rick was asked to stand in for the British actor and star of the stage Bazil Montgomery who mysteriously disappeared on the opening night of his latest play 'Girls, Curls, and Twirls'. Rick took to the stage having never performed in public and was a sensation. Legend records a 15 minute standing ovation.

Hollywood Calls!

After 5 years travelling the United States, performing in comedies and tragedies, Shakespeare and Revue, Rick finally made his way to Hollywoodland and there quickly discovered his world famous trademark - his moustache. With moustache firmly planted above his quivering lips he set about acquiring himself a studio contract. His first knock was upon the door of Samuel G. Hoffmeier, Head of Famous Players Studio who quickly snapped up what he saw as "this most prodigious of talent".

Rick was on the backlot of Famous Players within a week shooting his first picture: "The Confirmed Batchelor". Although only playing a small part, he was noted for his striking appearance and cyclonic gymnastics. A small taste of what was eventually to come, and what we now take for granted. Rick: the whirlwind of action! The Daredevil Actioneer! The world's greatest exponent of the smile!

Three pictures later and Rick had become the world's most watched actor. Countries as remote as Australia sought Rick Chester pictures. Rick was a star!

Actor turns Author

Our hero was inundated with bags and bags of fan mail, some begging his help, asking for his recipe of success. There swiftly followed 'Giggle & Get Along" - the first in a series of self-help books as penned by Rick Chester. In "Giggle & Get Along" Rick explained the potential benefit one can have from a more positive, confident outlook on life. How starting the day with a giggle 'can reach in and grab ya deep from the bowels of the Doldrums'.

Becoming a best-seller within a matter of months, Rick followed "Giggle" with "Matrimony Makes Sense" - a guide for young men, uncertain to the benefits of marriage. He continues to write popular columns for the Hollywood Picture Magazine, and intends to publish his "Five Steps to Stardom" at the end of his current world tour.

Star!

So, to sum up....
Who is Rick Chester? Why, "He's the World's Greatest Silent Movie Star" (Pictureplay Magazine) - that's who!
